Kymani: The Wandering Android

This package contains a layered psd detailing my process in painting this portrait.

In this technologically advanced world, androids are made from the memories of dead people. Everyone wears a chip inserted through their optical nerve, and it is retrieved once the person dies. One can tell whether it is an android or not by the location of the chip. While living beings have it in their forehead, androids have it in their chest, emitting a purple glow. While androids were originally made to preserve the memory of a person, they were soon used for other purposes. Darker purposes. Kymani was once the daughter of a wealthy man. This man was her owner. Mad with grief, the man would abuse Kymani, convinced that she was made to haunt him. However, rather than accepting it, Kymani recalled many happy memories through her memory chip. Her former self died through a sickness, giving Kymani the memory of the will for a free life of no physical boundaries. As her owner was old, it took little effort for Kymani to escape. However, emotional boundaries held her back from taking opportunities. Escaping her old home was her first step. Now, she must wander the earth alone.
